Halloween

The Halloween of 7th grade my best friend and I decided to go as Butters and Awesom-O from South Park.  My friend looks a lot like Butters so all we had to do was find clothes to match his character.  We found a huge cardboard box and designed it to look exactly like Awesom-O.  Once we got to our Halloween party, we had so many compliments from people regarding the creativity, and we ended up winning best costume.  We eventually went trick or treating on the war college because they always gave the best candy, and once the night was over we retired the costumes.  Somewhere in my house though I still have that cardboard box.

Dream Vacation

My dream vacation would be to spend a month in Spain.  Ever since I was in middle school, FC Barcelona has been my favorite soccer team, and I would love to watch them play in person instead of on the TV.  I would love to meet some of the players, especially Xavi and Iniesta.  The soccer team isn't the only reason I would love to go to Spain.  My cousin went there a few years and said that the beaches in Barcelona are beautiful.  While there, I would also want to take a trip across the country and visit Madrid which I've heard has a lot of spirit and life.  Most of all is that I would love to just sit in a bar in Barcelona with my brother and dad and watch the games I can't see in person because the atmosphere in Barcelona when they play is unbelievable.

The Beacon Article

"Carbon Dioxide Levels Affect Seasonal Allergies" is an article in The Beacon about how an increase in carbon dioxide levels affects allergies an asthma.  Ragweed is one particular allergen that is substantially affected by CO2 levels.  An experiment conducted by a Harvard student found that doubling the atmospheric CO2 in a greenhouse caused ragweed to grow 10% more and produce 61% more pollen.  An experiment conducted by scientist Lewis Ziska found that ragweed grown in Inner Harbor grew to be 3 to 5 times larger than the rural ragweed and produced 10% more pollen.  This is because there are more vehicles and people in Inner Harbor causing there to be more CO2 produced.

Current Event

Yesterday, there was an airplane crash at Santa Monica Airport.  During takeoff, a business jet crashed into a hangar causing the roof of the hangar to collapse and firefighters were not able to enter the hangar as a result.  There were no survivors of the crash or fire, and the amount of people on board is not being released yet.  There was no communication between the pilot and control tower to indicate any kind of trouble, so an investigation is currently going on to determine the reason for the crash.

Introduction

My name is Evan.  I'm a sophomore at Wilkes University and currently studying pharmacy.  I'm from Carlisle, PA and have three siblings, two brothers and a sister.  I've played soccer most of my life, but I don't play for the school.  I enjoy hanging out with my friends, surfing the internet, and playing fifa on my xbox.  I think this class with be a little tough because I've never given that many speeches in front of people.  I'm great at talking 1 on 1, but once I have to start talking in front of a lot of people I get a little nervous.
